Boo-tiful girls!

Happy Halloween!  It was an eventful one for the Robinson household as we had a number of Spidermen, Supermen, Princesses, Zombies and other fair and foul creatures (Greg’s favorite was a pirate who liked to show off his sword). Lilly put on her “Just Hatched” outfit (looks like part of an egg) but the hat was to small and she almost immediately threw up on the bottom half.  Her sisters each dressed up as well; one as Rapunzel (complete with frying pan for decking all manner of scary ghosties and ghoulies) and one as a fairy.  We walked all over the neighborhood and only had one or two really scary houses.  I was able to capture a quick shot of our girls with Aly, who was dressed as a bunny rabbit princess as near as I could tell.

Fair

One of Mama’s great joys in life is her annual excursion to the NC State Fair.  It’s a great time and seeing animals, milking cows, and getting silhouettes cut to commemorate another year of growth.  Our friend Deb came with us to help keep track of 3 kids at a place that can be pretty crowded and stressful and everyone had a great time!

Busy little bees

Tonight was Marble’s Kooky Halloween party where we got to dance, explore cool science experiments, eat treats, and stay up late getting silly at Marbles!  The girls enjoyed being bumblebees together, and Mama kept having flashbacks to Blind Melon’s No Rain video…

Grace *LOVED* to dance, and spent the entire 1.5-2 hours we were there basically dancing (when Mama didn’t drag her away to check out some of the cool experiments).  She was one of the few who ‘survived’ Mousetrap Mayhem, where all the kids were in a circle trying not to get caught in a mouse trap.  Abby was more subdued, but enjoyed looking at worms and eating a “Great Pumpkin” (tangerine with a celery stem)– Mama enjoyed the “Boo-nanas” and Grace of course, found the cupcakes.

While we carved our pumpkin last night, we were invited to a pumpkin carving party at our friend’s the Jones’ house tonight– the girls loved it; there was a trampoline, s’mores and all the orange food they could eat!

Carving our Pumpkin!

We were very excited to be able to carve our pumpkin tonight as a way to get ourselves prepared for Halloween; can you believe that it’s less than a week away?!

First step was to brainstorm our ideas for the pumpkin’s face:

After getting the idea part down, it was time to cut and scoop.  Grace took the lead on deciding what facial features we should have on it, and Abby was excited about scooping out the ‘guts’ (but not nearly as efficient at it as her sister, due to much smaller hands and less sophisticated use of her tools).

A visit from friends!

We are very fortunate that we have friends who are interested in meeting Ms. Lilly and bringing their children to play with ours.  Today we got a visit from the Foster boys and everyone had a great time!  So many fun pictures (Thanks Jen!) and such yummy food!

When Uncle Mike showed up, Grace demanded– “Do you remember me from your wedding?”– as though Mike didn’t know her from the moment she was announced to the family at Mama’s 30th birthday party.  Mike kindly replied that indeed, he did remember her from his wedding and going to the beach  this summer and lots of other family fun.

If ever Uncle Mike needed to know that he has a fan club here, he should be convinced now as all 3 of his nieces think that he’s pretty wonderful.

Outside time with Mike was a blast, complete with sidewalk chalk and other silliness.  Hopefully Uncle Mike will be able to come visit again soon, but even if he can’t (Atlanta is a long drive!), we’ll get to see him at Thanksgiving!

And in case you were unsure who was visiting, Grace drew a picture of Uncle Mike so that we wouldn’t forget.

And even better, Uncle Mike reads stories!  He pulled out an old favorite– Uncle Alex’s version of Ping, the duck on the Yangzee River.
